Monday Meeting Review

Minneapolis City Council and committees

Did you know the city has an Animal Care and Control Advisory Committee? Well I did not and wanted to share its agenda for tonight with you. They meet quarterly.

The Business, Inspections, Housing, and Zoning Committee meets tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. On the agenda is the appointment of the Housing/Rent Stabilization Work Group and Common Roots is asking to expand its patio seating.

On Wednesday, the Public Health & Safety committee meets Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and the Charter Commission meets at 4 p.m.

On Thursday, the Public Works & Infrastructure committee meets at 1:30 p.m.

Hennepin County

The Hennepin County board meets tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. followed by the Regional Railroad Authority.

Hennepin County meetings can be watched live via Microsoft Teams and meetings recordings are also made available.

Met Council

The Met Council meets Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board & Minneapolis Public Schools School Board

No meetings until August.

Urban Ventures created a program that offers people with a first-time gun possession offense a set of classes that help them understand why they thought owning a gun for protection was the best route for them to take. Graduates of the courses have their record wiped clean. (Minnesota Reformer)

Matthew Melewski, a lawyer with experience in Minnesota land use and environmental law, spoke with Wedge LIVE! about the 2040 Plan lawsuit and appeal. Melewski explained that comprehensive plans, like 2040, are typically exempt from environmental impact studies--the crux of the existing lawsuit filed against the city. (Wedge LIVE!)

There is funding available to creatives in Minneapolis. An information session about the funding is today at 1 p.m. via Zoom.
