COMMUNITY ACTION REQUESTED 💪
On Wednesday night a devastating fire severely damaged House of Charity's Food Centre, located downtown. St. Stephen's House of Charity typically provides three meals a day to people who live in the charity's emergency shelters and a nearby housing complex on 8th Street.
Our hope is that, through local donations, House of Charity will rebound as fast as possible to continue feeding people going through homelessness. You can make a donation on St. Stephen's website. St. Stephen's also has an employer match program, too. Or you can organize your work team/block/book club/friends to band together and donate as a group. However you can help, please do. This is a horrible loss during a difficult time for too many people.
If you are a Minneapolis Public Schools parent or caregiver, you will probably relate to the stories four mothers shared with us this week. Melissa Whitler interviewed the moms about the current move back to online learning and how it has impacted their children and themselves. The interviews are broken into two stories that we hope you share with caregivers around the city:
MPS Parents Share Their Experiences Going Online (Again) and Sending Students Back
Minneapolis Public Schools are slated to return to in-person learning on Monday. At this week's school board meeting, the board discussed getting KN95 masks and test kits distributed directly to schools. If the children in your life go to MPS schools, let us know what your experience is next week regarding in-school mask and test availability.
