Kim's in Uptown is now closed, three days earlier than its announced date of Aug. 30.

Ann Kim has cited financial losses at the restaurant as the reason for closing. A recent interview with a Kim's worker hinted at slower shifts and unpredictable working hours. Kim closed the around-the-corner Bronto Bar on Aug. 1.

"Workers are angry at the disrespect demonstrated by the sudden and unilateral closure of Kim’s as of August 26," a UNITE HERE Local 17 press release reads. Workers, who recently unionized with UNITE HERE, are asking for priority hiring at Kim's other establishments.

Kim's opened less than a year ago, replacing the popular Sooki & Mimi restaurant which opened in early 2021.
