Kruse Markit in Kingfield closed its doors for good ahead of the holidays.
Owner Heidi Stark posted a video to Instagram on New Year’s Day announcing the permanent closure of Kruse Markit, located at 4237 Nicollet Ave. S., after the business was closed from Dec. 24-Dec. 31 for the holidays.
“This decision was not made lightly and comes after much thought and consideration,” reads a statement accompanying the Instagram post. Specific reasons for the closure were not shared.
Kruse Markit sold curated food products with a focus on women-owned companies on the market side, while the restaurant side served breakfast through dinner items that leaned on the healthier side. The business faced stiff competition with the often-crowded burger joint Lowbrow across the street and the new Bûcheron restaurant a few doors down nabbing the higher-end clientele.
Kruse Markit’s building is across the street from recently-developed retail spaces that include a future pizza restaurant and other non-restaurant establishments.
