Two restaurant veterans are teaming up to open Jade Dynasty Restaurant and Bar in the former Fuji Ya space on Lake Street. Chuen Sai “Paul” Wu and Eric Zeng have been working together since 2021 to bring Cantonese cuisine to the building, which sustained damage during the unrest in 2020.
In May 2022, the City Council’s Business, Inspections, Housing & Zoning Committee approved a $500,000 Commercial Property Development Fund loan for E & P Lake St LLC to rehab the former Fuji Ya space at 600 W. Lake St. E & P Lake St LLC is owned by Wu and Zeng.
Jade Dynasty is also listed on Lake Street Council’s “community-led developments” which the council refers to as “critical redevelopment projects on Lake Street that are seeking to build on longstanding vacant lots or renovate existing properties.”
According to 2022 City paperwork, Wu was managing a restaurant at Mystic Lake Casino and Zeng used to own Hong Kong Noodles, which is now under new ownership. Jade Dynasty Restaurant and Bar will serve “authentic Asian cuisine and specialize in Cantonese dishes, fresh fish and seafood, Asian hot pot, and Chinese dim sum."
According to The Development Tracker, Jade Dynasty is set to open this winter.
