Here's a roundup of what we published this week
Last night, Minneapolis teachers and education support professionals announced that 97% of teachers and 98% of ESPs voted to authorize a strike. Melissa Whitler wrote a summary yesterday that gives some good context on the background before the vote. Next up is a "cooling off" period where the educators decide whether to officially go on strike as they continue negotiations with the district.
Todd Schuman, an organizer with the Justice for Justine coalition, wrote a piece for us about their efforts, Amir Locke, and where efforts to reform MPD should go from here.
Wrecktangle shared their opening plans with us for their new space at LynLake (701 W. Lake Street) which will start takeout service in mid-March and become a full-service restaurant once they get their liquor license. We rounded up all of this week's Southwest restaurant news over on Instagram, including expansions for the teams from Clancey's, Boludo, and Centro.
Josh Martin pulled together a great summary on the city's redistricting process and proposed changes in advance of the final public meeting next Thursday. We also shared updates from the state representatives from Southwest Minneapolis about their plans for running in the new districts.
If you're only on our weekly email list, head over to our website to check out all of this week's newsletters, which contain things to do, round-ups of links with everything going on, and much more.
