The Urban Outfitters at 3006 Hennepin Ave. South will close June 20. This location has been open since the late 2000s. This was the company's tenth location. There are now over 500 locations.
The closing of Urban Outfitters follows the lead of other national-brand stores on Hennepin Ave. South shutting their doors including CB2, Apple and North Face.
Urban Outfitters' trend-based, brick-and-mortar stores, each with its own unique layout and vibe, have been popular among teens and young adults for decades. Its overall popularity doesn’t seem to be waning.
Three years ago, the property was listed for lease by Cushman & Wakefield in Minneapolis-St. Paul. At the time of the listing, it wasn’t clear when the space would be available.
According to a sign on the front door, the store is closed Wednesdays.
We will update this story with more information when it becomes available.
