The CVS Pharmacy at 2001 Nicollet Ave. will close Feb. 11, per a CVS spokesperson.

Southwest Voices reached out to CVS asking about a possible closure.

“Maintaining access to pharmacy services in the communities we serve is an important factor we consider when making store closure decisions,” a statement from CVS Pharmacy sent to Southwest Voices on Jan. 3 reads.

All prescriptions at the 2001 Nicollet Ave. S. CVS Pharmacy will be transferred to the 1010 W. Lake St. location. CVS also offers same-day and 1-2 day delivery for eligible prescriptions through its website. Patients can also choose to fill their prescriptions at another pharmacy of their choice.

While the CVS Pharmacy in the Target at 900 Nicollet Ave. is closer, CVS chose to move prescriptions to a full CVS store with a parking lot. There are no plans to close the CVS Pharmacy in Target at 900 Nicollet Avenue.

CVS Pharmacy's full statement:

"We’ve made the difficult decision to close the CVS Pharmacy at 2001 Nicollett Avenue in Minneapolis on February 11. All prescriptions will be transferred to the nearby CVS Pharmacy at 1010 West Lake Street to ensure patients have uninterrupted access to pharmacy care. Patients can always choose to fill their prescriptions at any CVS Pharmacy, or the pharmacy of their choice, if another is more convenient. All colleagues are being offered comparable roles within the company.

Maintaining access to pharmacy services in the communities we serve is an important factor we consider when making store closure decisions. Other factors include local market dynamics, population shifts, a community’s store density, and ensuring there are other geographic access points to meet the needs of the community.

We’ll continue to provide the community with outstanding service at the eight CVS Pharmacy locations in Minneapolis, including those inside Target stores. We also offer several delivery options for customers and patients with eligible prescriptions, including 1-2-day delivery and on-demand (same-day) delivery (within three hours), through CVS.com and the CVS Pharmacy app to provide additional convenient access to household essentials, health and wellness products, and prescription medications."
